Kitchen Aid Mixers – The Best Choice
When I think of mixers, I think of Kitchen Aid mixers. They are an icon from my grandmothers era. It seems that Kitchen Aid has been around forever. While I know they haven't been around forever, they have been around since 1919, so almost a century, wow. Kitchen Aid mixers as well as the rest of their appliances are owned by Whirlpool.
Hobart Corporation invented the mixer in 1919 in order to give restaurants a cheaper alternative to the huge and expensive industrial mixers. Even though the Kitchen Aid was smaller and more compact, it still weighed 69 lbs. When they began, each mixer was assembled by human hands, and is still done that way today in Greenville, Ohio. This is the only mixer that has its own trademark for its unique shape.
There are two basic styles of the Kitchen Aid mixers; The Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, and the Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer.
Tilt-Head Stand Mixer - This has a tilting head that makes access to the bowl and beater more convenient. It is designed for quality performance for the home kitchen. It comes with a lock lever that holds the head in place when raised, and the bowl fastens securely to the base. This mixer also comes with the 8 to 9 cup flour power rating.
Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer - This is designed for commercial use. There is a lever that easily raises the mixing bowl into position for mixing and then lowers it. This line of the Kitchen Aid mixers are designed to handle heavy bread dough, pasta, and thick batters. Because this is a heavy duty mixer, it has a 12 to 14 cup flour power rating, and comes with the "Power Knead - Spiral Dough Hook".
All of the Kitchen Aid mixers come with a variety of attachments that allow you to make home-made pasta, juices, smoothies, and anything else that can be put into a bowl and mixed, you can even add chopping blades for chopping vegetables and nuts.
Kitchen Aid mixers come in the widest variety of colors and finishes of any mixer on the market. So whatever your kitchen design, you will find a color to compliment your taste and decor.
