Kitchen Aid Appliance – Still Number One
There are a number of appliance companies such as GE, Whirlpool, Kenmore, Hot Point, etc...but there is one that stands out above the rest. This company has been around for a century and is still staying on top of the competition. The Kitchen Aid appliance has been heralded as a top quality appliance through out the century, which proves that it passes the time test.
This company began with their simple stand mixer, which was to help restaurant owners who could not afford the large commercial mixers. They began as the Hobart Manufacturing Company in the early 1900's. It is said that the name was inspired by the wife of a Hobart executive. He brought home one of the new mixers and mentioned to his wife that they were trying to come up with a name. She said that it was "the best kitchen aid" she had ever experienced, and who cared what it was called. This name obviously hit a nerve with the executive as well as the other board members, and then the brand "Kitchen Aid" appliance was born.
The Kitchen Aid appliance became the most popular brand in the 1920's through the 1930's. One of the reason for this is their marketing method of selling door to door. A housewife was able to see firsthand how it would make their life simpler in the kitchen, creating more time for other things. Kitchen Aid also had home parties, similar to a Tupperware party today. It became a new way for housewives to get together and socialize while enjoying learning about the newest inventions for the kitchen.
Now the Kitchen Aid appliance includes not only their ever-famous stand mixer, but they have some of the best dishwashers, which was introduced actually in 1880, yes, I did say 1880. It was introduced by Josephine Cochrane, who founded the Crescent Company. Hobart bought this company and still to this day is a number one seller. Back in the beginning, they were not able to sell these door to door like they could the mixer, and having dishwasher party was pretty much out of the question.
Today, Kitchen Aid has merged with Whirlpool, providing a long line of appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, ovens, washers and dryers, large appliances, and freezers. Today, the Kitchen Aid appliance is one of the most famous of the appliance manufacturers of the smaller counter top appliances as well as the large home appliances. You can find these great products in stores all over the world and here on the web.
